Connecticut PTA Officers


 
First Vice President: Marne Usher

Marne Usher lives in North Haven with her husband Steve, her children Andrew and Ali, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a tankful of fish. Her volunteer activities in the New Haven area began when she joined the Junior League of Greater New Haven while pregnant with her oldest child. She has served on their Board of Directors in several capacities as well as on their Executive Board and is now a Sustaining member. Her PTA experience began, as most of ours does, when her children entered the school system. She has served as President of the Ridge Road Elementary School PTA, President of the North Haven Middle School PTSA and President of the North Haven PTA Council. On the State Board Marne has served as the Vice President of Legislation and the First Vice-President and currently represents CT PTA on many advisory councils, coalitions and committees. In addition to her PTA activities she is an active volunteer for the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery program.

 
VP Membership: Holly Goodwin

Holly has been involved in PTA for 7 years. She lives in Bristol with her husband Rich and two children Emily and Matthew. In addition to her PTA activities she has served as a Girl Scout leader, soccer coach and CCD teacher. She currently serves as CTPTA Region Director where she has started up new units and councils. Holly will continue to support and promote the mission of PTA by encouraging parents and community leaders to get involved and become advocates for our children. She looks forward to the opportunity to share her enthusiasm for PTA and its mission throughout CT.

 
VP Leadership: Louise Scotti

Louise lives in Bristol with her husband Tony, and their Golden Retriever, Buddy. She has five grandsons who all live close by and is involved with all of their activities. She has been involved in the PTA, both State and town level for the last ten years. She is a co-founder with her daughter Melissa Johnson of the Plymouth SEPTA four years ago.

Louise has held the position of the Chairperson for the Reflection’s Program at the State level for the last two years and will continue in this role for the next two years. She is a natural with presenting, at the awards ceremony.

Louise works fulltime at Aetna Inc. in Hartford, as a Sr. Administrative Assistant and enjoys her job immensely. She is also on the Board of Directors for “Litchfield Little Britches” a horseback riding therapy program for special needs children.

 
VP Leadership: Don Romoser

Don has a long history of working to support education. Before even having children, Don was a member of a Board of Education in Illinois. Once his children were school aged, Don became active in the PTA. Don has served in many capacities at the local and Council levels. He has been a unit President, 1st Vice President, Treasurer, and Advocacy/Legislative Vice President in addition to being Chairperson of various fundraising and educational committees. Don has served as a Vice President of Legislation/Advocacy on Councils in California and Connecticut.

In addition to his PTA experience, Don has served as a member and Chairperson on several Strategic and Facility Planning Committees for school districts. He was Chair of a committee to save lower class sizes by raising over $500,000 in four months. As President of an educational foundation serving 35,000 students, Don implemented new community outreach, teacher forums and expanded music programs.

Don lives in Ridgefield with his wife, Sandy, and two children, Paige and William.

 
VP Leadership: Mike Taylor

Mike began his involvement with PTA when he joined Milford CT’s, Live Oaks School PTA when his oldest daughter was in Kindergarten fifteen years ago. Several years later, he became the President of the unit. After a few years as a unit President, he became President of the Milford Council of PTA’s. He moved on from there to Regional Director (Region III) and then on to his current position of Vice President of Legislation.

“I have always been one to side with the underdog, and PTA affords us all the opportunity to advocate for our kids who really are the true underdog. As a father, I believe that getting involved and supporting the efforts of PTA and their advocacy for children is a responsibility and a privilege.”

Mike and his wife Sondra live in Milford, CT with five kids, Amanda, Emily Charlie, Molly and Morgan. Mike is the Business Development Officer of Sikorsky Financial Credit Union in Stratford, CT.

 
VP Membership & Region V Director: Jan Krampitz

Mrs. Jan Krampitz resides in Plymouth with her husband and son. A PTA member since 1987, Jan has served at many local PTA positions including founder of Plymouth-Terryville PTA Council and has served on the CT PTA Board of Directors for almost thirteen years.

During that time Jan held the offices of First Vice President, Secretary, AIDS Chairman, Bylaws Chairman, Regional Director, and Executive Director of Phi Delta Kappa/National PTA Educational Forum for CT and BSP Presenter and others.

Jan is also active in the local woman's club and library board, church, and is an officer in the International Association of Administrative Professionals where she holds her certification in the Administrative Field.

Jan has received the CT PTA Appreciation Award for Outstanding Service to CT PTA in 1993, CT PTA Honorary Life Membership Award in 1995, CT PTA Newsletter Award in 1999, and the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Volunteer Award in 2002. She has a longtime interest in leadership for unit members as advocates for parental issues.
