CT PTA President's Letter A Thought for the New Year A new year is upon us, new beginnings for ourselves, our family and PTA. The holidays are over, the house is “back to normal” once again and now we return to our daily activities. For you and for many of us that means PTA functions, meetings and activities. There is much to accomplish during the new year. Many PTAs will be participating in the Reflections Program, some PTAs sponsor field trips, for others, they are working on projects with long term goals. Whatever your PTA is doing is important. As a PTA member, you are aware of the commitment you have made and the responsibility you have chosen to accept. During the past holiday season many families exchanged gifts and for many families the exchanging of gifts is something they do throughout the year as special occasions warrant. You may not realize it but you have given your children a special gift - a gift that will reap rewards for years to come. This is the gift of setting an example of yourself. Showing your children what it means to choose an organization to belong to, an organization that requires for most members an opportunity to actually do something. You are showing your children that, in order for good things to happen, people have to work to make them happen. There may be times you are tired, times you are frustrated, times you wonder why you have become involved. When this happen look at your children, watch them when they see what you are doing. Leave them with the picture of a parent or parents who are making a difference. Leave them with a picture of a PTA parent! Best wishes to you all for a happy and healthy New Year.
