Connecticut PTA Honorary Life Membership Award

HONOR A SPECIAL PERSON!

The Connecticut PTA Honorary Life Membership is the highest honor that a PTA can bestow. Thus, it is a particularly significant way to honor those in your school, community and state who have demonstrated a concern and caring for children and youth.

The person being honored is usually someone who has given outstanding service to children; someone who has promoted the well-being of children by serving as an advocate for children in the areas of education, health, safety and/or legislation

The person who receives a CT PTA Honorary Life membership will appreciate this high honor. Your PTA members will be proud to be involved in the presentation. The community can be involved in the presentation, too, through press releases to the local press. Your presentation can be the cornerstone of a PTA anniversary celebration or an installation of officers. Arrangements can be made to make your presentation at the CT PTA Annual Convention.

Think of people your PTA might like to honor with a CT PTA Honorary Life Membership; people who care about children and have make their caring count by their devoted service to children and youth.

CHOOSING YOUR HONOREE

Consider the honoring:

bulletA PTA leader: past or present
bulletThe district superintendent
bulletThe school principal

bulletA school board member, or even the chairman
bulletA police officer who works with children through PAL or DARE
bulletA school crossing guard who has been on duty many years
bulletA legislator who has worked for laws benefiting children and youth
bulletA newspaper editor who has championed public education
bulletA school secretary
bulletA school custodian
bulletA paraprofessional

HONORARY CT PTA LIFE MEMBER

CT PTA's Highest Award

The honoree need not be a member of a PTA unit or be well known beyond his/her area of service.

PTAs often present the CT PTA Honorary Life Membership as part of their Founders' Day program or their last program or the last program of the school year. However, any time is the right time for awarding this honor. There is no need to wait for a special occasion. In fact, the presentation of a CT PTA Honorary Life Membership makes any occasion special.

When a CT PTA Honorary Life Membership is conferred, not only is someone who has made a contribution to the welfare of children and youth honored, the work of CT PTA is promoted through a contribution to the CT PTA Scholarship Fund.

The Scholarship Fund receives a donation of $55.00 of the $65.00 Honorary Life Membership fee. The remaining $10.00 covers the cost of the HLM pin and certificate.

The CT PTA Scholarship Fund has been established by the CT PTA Board of Directors to grant scholarships through an application and selection process to graduating seniors from CT PTA/PTSA high schools who after graduation from a four-year college will be entering the teaching profession.

The CT PTA Scholarship Award recipients are presented their scholarship awards at the Annual CT PTA Convention each spring.
